Sampling weight for Wave 1 + Wave 3

Hi,

I just wonder if there's any chance that I learn which sampling weight (AWGT or SWGT) for Wave 1 + Wave 3?

I might be wrong, but I think I should use SWGT based on the description, but I just want to double-check that:

The "all-waves" weight files contain weights for those respondents who have completed an interview during all three waves of data collection.

The "single-wave" weight files contain weights for all respondents in Wave 3 regardless of whether they completed an interview during Wave 2."

Please let me know.

Thanks!

John

Re: Sampling weight for Wave 1+Wave 3

For analysis involving Waves 1 and 3, use of single wave weight is appropriate. The Wave 3 single-wave weight was assigned to all Wave 3 respondents whether or not they participated at Wave 2. The RUF and PUF User Guides, codebooks, and annotated instruments located at https://doi.org/10.3886/Series606 are valuable resources that may help address your question. Please refer specifically to Section 5: “Weights and Imputation” of  the RUF User Guide to learn about the weights created at different waves; and to Section 5.4: “Selecting the Appropriate Weights” for guidance on selecting the appropriate weights for analysis.
