Wave 2 e-cigarette, EPRODS variables

Hello,

I am confused with the R02_AExx, R02_AOxx, R02R_xxx_ECIG, and R02R_xxxx_EPRODS variables at Wave 2.

In the codebook, it seems like R02_AExx (regular) and R02R_xxx_ECIG (derived) are e-cigarette related variables and I assumed that R02_AOxx and R02R_xxxx_EPRODS are about electronic nicotine products OTHER THAN e-cigarettes.

But I am not sure whether R02_AOxx and R02R_xxxx_EPRODS refer to the same products: electronic nicotine products OTHER THAN e-cigarettes.

The source of confusion was from the inconsistency of the numbers.

For example, the codebook states that R02_AOxx variables are about electronic nicotine product (other than e-cigarettes) and the number of people who used electronic nicotine product (other than e-cigarettes) fairly regularly (R02_AO1100) is 325.

However, the number of people who (Wave 2 Adult respondents) have ever used any electronic nicotine
products fairly regularly, AND currently use every day or some days' (R02R_A_CUR_ESTD_EPRODS) is 1906 which is way greater than 325.

I do not think this makes sense and am afraid that maybe R02R_xxxx_EPRODS (derived) variables are not about electronic nicotine product (other than e-cigarettes) but about both e-cigarettes AND other electronic nicotine products. Please let me know if I am thinking something incorrectly.

Thank you!!

Clarifying W2 variables

To clarify, the EPRODS derived variables are about any electronic nicotine product including e-cigarettes.  For example, R02R_A_CUR_ESTD_EPRODS looks at use of e-cigarettes (R02_AE1100) or other electronic nicotine products (R02_AO1100) at Wave 2. The ECIG derived variables at W2 refer to e-cigarettes only as noted in the description of variables in the codebook. The variables from the survey (not-derived) are a little different. R02_AO**** (R02_A01100 for example) questions are asked of electronic nicotine products OTHER THAN e-cigarettes, which is why in your example there are only 325 respondents for R02_A01100 while there are 1906 current established any electronic nicotine product user at W2. Please refer to the W2 annotated questionnaires and the codebook for further clarification.
