Wave 3 Ritalin use

Hello all,

I am trying to create a wave 3 (W3) variable for eer use of Ritalin or Adderall. I am following the guidance on page 932 of the W3 PUF questionnaire. However, the definition includes a variable that is not in the W3 dataset at all (R03_YX0089_NB_01). Any guidance on who i can reach out to in order to get this corrected for be great. Thank you!

Re: Wave 3 Ritalin use

Hi ollieganz,

Thank you for your message. I searched for variable R03_YX0089_NB_01 in the variable search tool on the study homepage and found that this variable is in the Wave 3 Dataset 3002 (Youth / Parent Questionnaire Data) of the PUF study. Please see the results in this link: https://www.icpsr.umich.edu/icpsrweb/NAHDAP/studies/36498/variables?q=R03_YX0089_NB_01.

So this is interesting. Can you confirm you were looking in this data file when you searched for the variable? Can you let us know if we missed anything? We look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks for the quick response

Thanks for the quick response! I should have clarified that I am looking at the adult questionnaire. I think the issue is that the variable included in the guidance on page 932 of the W3 adult PUF questionnaire is actually only in the parent/youth questionnaire. Does that sound right?

Thanks again!

Re: Re: Wave 3 Ritalin use

Hi again,

Thank you for the clarification! I checked the questionnaire and found the variable on page 932, and I saw a note on page 886 that I want to confirm you saw as well. Let me check with the team about the variable to see if I can get more information for you as soon as possible. As far as I know, I can only see the variable in the Parent/Youth questionnaire. In the meantime, please feel free to send further questions.

Re: Re: Re: Wave 3 Ritalin use

Hi ollieganz,

Here's the response from the PATH Study Team:
The definition for R03_EVER_USER_RIT on page 932 of the W3 Adult PUF questionnaire was copied incorrectly from the W3 Youth/Parent Questionnaire. This will be corrected in a future update. The correct definition for R03_EVER_USER_RIT in the Adult questionnaire is in Box R03_AXV04 on page 822.

Thank you!
